Booming transpacific air freight demand bolstered by congestion affecting U.S. west-coast ports is having a knock-on effect for other markets, such as tightening capacity on Asia-Europe routes.
John Cheetham, Asia-Pacific regional commercial manager for IAG Cargo, told Lloyd’s Loading List.com: “We are experiencing a reasonably good peak season, similar to the old-style peak seasons before the financial crisis. The big difference this year is that the demand for transpacific capacity has meant a lot of airlines are repositioning capacity onto the transpacific market, which has tightened the capacity on other markets such as Asia-Europe, and we have benefited from that.
