Canadians Unaware of Products Made with Child Labour

Canadians don’t realize how many of the things they buy are produced with child labour, says a new report from World Vision.

In an Ipsos Reid poll conducted for the organization, 82% of respondents admitted they had no idea if what they bought contributed to the exploitation of children in other countries, and 60% said they would stop buying a product if they found out it was.

Billions of dollars worth of goods are imported to Canada every year from countries where child labour is known to exist – items such as coffee from Guatemala, sugar from El Salvador, electronics from China, clothing and shoes from Bangladesh. Click here to read more.
