CP Rail Looking to Hammer out Contracts with Unions

CP Rail will try to hammer out contracts with two of its unions this weekend but the Harper government is making it clear it’s prepared to intervene if there’s job action.

A union representing 1,800 safety and maintenance workers and another union representing 3,300 locomotive engineers, conductors, trainmen and yardmen have issued strike notices for tomorrow morning.

Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz says he hopes mediators can avert a strike, but adds that if they don’t the government will make sure the economy doesn’t suffer. Click here to read more.
