Deutsche Bahn has been hit by fresh strike action, with subsidiary DB Schenker warning of “significant disruption to freight services”.
The GDL train drivers’ union has followed up industrial action last month with a call for a five-day stoppage of freight trains that began yesterday afternoon (5 November) and is due to run until the morning of 10 November. A four-day strike affecting passenger traffic began earlier today, as the union reiterated its demands for a 5% pay rise and shorter working hours, along with a separate collective bargaining deal for other grades of rail staff.
