Tariff Relief Consultation on Unfinished Spectacle Lenses

The Department of Finance is currently reviewing a request for the removal of customs duties on unfinished spectacle lenses. These lenses are processed in optical laboratories in Canada (grinding to prescription and to frame shape, polishing, tinting, etc.), and are classified under Tariff Item Nos. 9001.40.90 and 9001.50.90 of the Customs Tariff as other spectacle lenses of glass and other spectacle lenses of other materials, dutiable at 2.0% under the Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) Tariff

Duty Removal Consultation on Embossed Aluminum Cans For Packaging Beverages

The Department of Finance is currently reviewing a request for the removal of customs duties on imports of embossed aluminum cans for use in the packaging of beverages. These embossed aluminum cans are classified under tariff item number 7612.90.90 of the Customs Tariff, dutiable at 6.5% under the Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) Tariff and 5.5% under the General Preferential Tariff (GPT).

Duty Removal Consultation on Wooden Handles for Brushes, Brooms or Mops

The Department of Finance is currently reviewing a request for the removal of customs duties on imports of wooden handles for brushes, brooms or mops. These handles are classified under tariff item number 4417.00.90 pf the Customs Tariff, dutiable at 6% under the Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) Tariff and free under the General Preferential Tariff (GPT).
