EU-US Free Trade Deal May Not Be Concluded This Year, Official Says

A landmark trade deal between the US and the EU may not be finalized this year, a top European official warned Wednesday, with disagreements remaining between the two economic giants.

“We cannot exclude that it may take longer,” said Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics, whose country currently holds the rotating EU presidency.

“The will is there, but the understanding also is that it may take longer, that this is not the agreement for the sake of the agreement,” he added, speaking after meeting in Riga with EU trade ministers. “It is an agreement that has to be a good agreement.” Click here to read more.
