“We are getting into a data-driven transportation industry,” said PIT Innovations’ Director Yves Provencher at the Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) Conference in April, adding, “early adopters of tech will be ahead of the game and eat the lunch of those who didn’t adopt.”
Provencher’s presentation was called Trucking in 2020 and he said that in the future truck OEMs will play a far greater role in carriers’ operations
And just a week after the conference, as if to prove Provencher right, Daimler announced it will expand its digital business by adding new services while rolling out current U.S. products in Europe and vice-versa.
“We’re aiming for a major product drive which goes way beyond what we have right now,” said Wolfgang Bernhard, head of Daimler Trucks division at Daimler AG from the company’s headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany.
Bernhard adds that effective digital tools can significantly improve customer loyalty, making it harder for large clients to defect to a rival manufacturer. Click here to read more.
