Taiwan’s exports soared to a three-year high in August, buoyed by record sales of electronic components ahead of the release of the iPhone 6 and other mobile devices.
Taiwan shipped $28.10 billion of goods abroad in August. That was a 9.6% increase from the same month last year and a 5.8% rise from July. Overall exports have grown 3.44% so far this year, exceeding the government’s target of a 3.21% rise for the entire year – but still below the double-digit percentage expansion often seen in the 1990s and early 2000s.
