Truck Industry Scrambles to Find Drivers

The Greater Lehigh Valley has a strong need for drivers who can move freight.

Two key factors are at play – the explosive boom in e-commerce, leading to a greater number of distribution centers near major highways, and a retiring commercial trucking workforce that does not have an adequate number of replacements. With its prime geographic location, the Greater Lehigh Valley has a need for Commercial Driver’s License truck drivers that likely will continue to grow.

There had been a dearth of training facilities in the region that cater to the CDL need. But more schools and training sites are opening and some companies are offering tuition reimbursement to attract more drivers. Read more here.
