Position: Human Resources Manager or Director

Location: Winnipeg, MB

Start Date: ASAP

GHY has an exciting new opportunity at their head office. This position is responsible for managing the Human Resources for the organization.

Reporting directly to the President, and part of the Executive Leadership Team this position works with managers and employees to create a harmonious working environment.

The organization has experienced strong growth over the past years. This position will have a focus on recruitment of all roles in North America plus building a HR Team.

The ability to lead, make decisions and work independently and exercise critical thinking skills is essential. The various HR responsibilities include employee relations, training and development, cultural ambassadorship, organizational development, recruitment/selection, compensation, health and safety and payroll/benefits relief. This individual will strive to instill strong HR principles within the organization and continuously work towards improving the work atmosphere. A positive attitude and customer focused approach is key to success.


  • Departmental Strategic Planning & Execution
    • Participate in Monthly and Quarterly Leadership meetings
    • Participate in the annual strategic leadership meeting and cultivate change
    • Implement and drive HR strategic initiatives forward
  • Training and Development
    • Organize and manage in-house training program
    • Apply for and manage Government training funding grants
    • Plan, create and host training workshops and seminars as required
  • Compensation and Benefits
    • Coordinate group benefit plans for Canadian and US operations
    • Run Quarterly salary reports
    • Manage organizational RRSP/DPSP Program
    • Manage/or assist with yearly market compensation analysis
  • Employee Relations
    • Up to and including terminations
    • Assist in yearly performance reviews and compensation adjustments
    • Assist managers in conflict resolution procedures
    • Assist in performance management situations
    • Guide and mentor management and associates on proper employment practices
    • Manage workers compensation benefits claims and the Return to Work
    • Provide guidance to managers on STD and LTD claims
  • Organizational Development
    • Review and revise policies and procedures on a continual basis
    • Manage organizational development with functional leaders
  • Recruitment & Selection
    • Perform full cycle recruitment
    • Conduct new hire orientation
  • Health and Safety
    • Lead and participate in Joint H&S Committee
    • Lead and participate in wellness activities
  • Operations
    • Manage company rewards store, 1901 Exchange
    • Complete special projects as assigned by Executive Group
  • Cultural Development & Corporate Responsibility
    • Lead and monitor employee engagement through initiatives and software
    • Lead corporate responsibility initiatives through the Giveback committee
    • Assist in writing yearly 50 Best Managed applications + apply
    • Manage and drive wellness programs throughout the organization
    • Apply for Canada’s Top 100 Employers applications
  • HR Analytics
    • Manage technical, analytic and audit functions of the HR department
  • Other duties as required

Educational Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 Education
  • Completion of Human Resource Management Degree or equivalent education will be considered
  • Completion of CPHR an asset
  • Must be a member in good standing with CPHR Manitoba
