FDA DUNS® Lookup Portal No Longer Available as of Next Week

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently announced that its partnership with the private data solutions firm Dun and Bradstreet, which established a dedicated portal where industry partners could request a DUNS® Number, will be ending on May 24, 2021. Consequently, as of this date, the FDA DUNS Portal will no longer be available.

This does not change the compulsory requirement for all food facilities to have a DUNS® Number, which must be provided to renew their registration with the FDA. The DUNS® Number is a unique, universal, 9-digit identifier assigned by the FDA to identify and verify business information with respect to a registrant, establishment, importer, and U.S. agent to a foreign firm.

D&B will continue providing DUNS® Numbers and users will still be able to perform queries directly via their existing web platform.

Although D&B provides the DUNS® Number free of charge, companies should be aware this may take 45 business days or longer. D&B does, however, also provide expedited processing for a nominal fee. Additional information about D&B services is available here.
