Due to Security Policy changes at the Department Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, effective October 3, 2021, all Automated Commercial Environment Secure Data Portal account passwords will require a minimum of 15-characters.

As of 12:00 A.M. EST on 10/03/2021, the 15-character password requirement will be enforced when your current 12-character password expires or when you manually change your password.

Moving forward, the new DHS/CBP Security Policy rules state that ACE Portal account passwords must:

  • Contain at least 15 characters.
  • Contain at least 2 letters.
  • Contain a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers.
  • Contain at least one of the following symbols: ! ” # $ % & ‘ ( ) * + , – . / : ; < = > ? @ [ ] ; ^ _ ` { | } ~

However, the new password cannot:

  • Contain your User Id.
  • Contain your first or last name.
  • Contain any consecutively repeated characters.
  • Be the same as a previously used password.
  • Be the reverse of a previously used password.

After changing your password, you will receive a confirmation message that states, “Your password change was successful. Please close all browser sessions, and load a new browser session to log in”.

Contact ACE Support through the instructions at www.cbp.gov/ace-support if you are experiencing problems changing your password.

Note: Should you be unable to log in to the ACE Portal with your new password, first ensure there are no other open browser sessions in the background.
