ACE Implementation: Preparing for the Unexpected

Posted June 13, 2016

GHY USA has been filing Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) entry summaries, ACE cargo releases and entry summaries for NHTSA (DOT) and APHIS (Lacey) shipments for a time now.

Next big hurdle is the June 15, 2016 mandate for filing all FDA entry data through ACE as well. With GHY as well as many other brokers nationwide adding to the flow of information being transmitted to and responded by the ACE system, intermittent delays are unavoidable.

Provide as much advance notice as possible for your shipments that contain FDA regulated product(s).

Ensure that complete FDA product code information sheets specific to your type of commodities are on file with GHY USA in advance of shipping. These forms can be found at the following here.

Documents for release may be sent in advance to

As you know, ACE is a significant change to the way U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) manages import data. There are a number of new systems, new requirements and participating Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) involved as well. Although both CBP and the PGAs are working hard to minimize delays, with such a large-scale system change some interruptions are inevitable. As with previous deadlines, in which we have experienced ACE system downtime from CBP we do expect the interruptions to continue into the near future.

We assure you that we’re ready to manage these interruptions proactively, and we’ll do everything we can to minimize any impact they may have on your business. We’re also committed to communicating with you should any unexpected issues arise.

Please be assured we’re in contact with CBP and FDA to stay abreast of their situation and doing everything we can to minimize the impact to you and your carriers.
