Avoiding ACE System Failures

Posted February 14, 2021

U.S. Customs and Border Protection recently issued some helpful guidance about how to avoid causing a system failure in the Automated Commercial Environment.

CBP advises there are two main reasons for such failures that can be easily avoided by filers:

  • Do not file a summary for the same entry number via an ACE Entry Summary (AE) Transaction within a short period of time. Most AE are processed within a minute. CBP suggests that for large summaries, you should wait 3 minutes before resubmitting AE for the same entry number.
  • Do not submit an AE and Cargo Release (SE) Transaction for the same entry number within a short period of time. Again, you should wait 3 minutes to allow the transaction to finish before resubmitting either an AE or SE for the same entry number.

Questions or concerns about this or other ACE issues should be directed to CBP’s Entry Summary, Accounts & Revenue Division
