Update: CBSA Decommissioning of Legacy Release Service Options

Posted June 21, 2020

The Canada Border Services Agency has announced that it will be decommissioning the legacy Other Government Department (OGD) release service options OGD PARS (SO463) and OGD RMD (SO471) on August 17, 2020.

CBSA has been seeking to decommission these release options since 2018 but has felt it necessary to extend the timeline for various reasons. Most recently, the decommissioning had been temporarily postponed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Why It Matters

Effective August 17, 2020, release requests submitted using the OGD legacy service options will be rejected with an error message of “Invalid Function Type Code”.

CBSA notes that transactions that are submitted using these service options prior to that date will, however, still be processed.line
