Full Implementation of FWS Message Set in ACE Delayed
Trade Update • MAY 10, 2021
U.S. Customs and Border Protection recently advised that the Fish and Wildlife Service is delaying implementation of the FWS Message Set in the Automated Commercial Environment.
FWS is still developing the regulations requiring that ACE be used to submit import data for FWS regulated commodities and therefore does not have an expected date for enforcement of mandatory submission in ACE.
Filing Through ACE
Despite this delay, all filers currently have the option to file FWS data in ACE; the method CBP would prefer to be used, if possible.
Prior to filing, it is recommended that users consult the FWS Implementation Guide and Partner Government Agencies Message Set samples.
Mandatory Filing Date Pending
CBP notes that a future notification will announce the specific date of mandatory filing, at least 60 days prior to implementation.
