Canada’s federal government has unveiled plans to mandate electronic logging devices in trucks, largely echoing rules that officially took hold in the U.S. on Dec. 18.
Draft versions of the rules have been published in the Canadian government’s official news outlet, and once finalized are to roll out within two years.
“This will make truck drivers less prone to fatigue,” federal Transport Minister Marc Garneau said after announcing the proposed regulations. “It will make our roads safer.”
