About 50,000 Canada Post mail carriers, including hundreds in Essex County, could be on the picket line next week just as the peak Christmas season starts to ramp up.
The deadline for a strike or lockout is 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 26.
“Peak season is the first week of October,” said Phil Lyons, president of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers Local 630. “There could be a lot of small businesses that are really hurting. Even major businesses. Amazon, we have big contracts with them. And Walmart. So we certainly don’t want to disrupt any of it.” Click here to read more.
