U.S. President Donald Trump spoke to the UN General Assembly Tuesday, asserting American sovereignty and rejecting “global governance, control and domination.” Here are some of the highlights of what he said.
On trade: At the UN General Assembly in New York, U.S. President Donald Trump touted his administration’s efforts to renegotiate “broken and bad” trade deals, praising the U.S.-Mexico agreement reached in August – but without mentioning Canada, which is still at loggerheads with Washington over a new trade agreement.
On his administration: Mr. Trump boasted about “the extraordinary progress we’ve made,” but was met with laughter from the audience when he said he had done more than “almost any administration in the history of our country.” Mr. Trump responded by saying, “I didn’t expect that reaction, but that’s okay.” Click here to read more.
