Canada’s New 25% Steel Derivative Surtax

Effective December 26, 2025, Canada will impose a 25% surtax on a published list of “steel derivative products,” applied globally at the HS-code level. The surtax applies to the full customs value, on top of MFN and any SIMA duties. Key remission orders have also been extended into 2026, creating both risk and opportunity.
