CBSA concludes SIMA re-investigation of certain copper pipe fittings
Re-investigations are conducted by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to update values, establish normal values for new products or models subject to the measures in force, and establish normal values for new co-operative exporters.
On Sept. 8, 2023, CBSA concluded a re‑investigation of the normal values and export prices respecting certain copper pipe fittings from the United States, South Korea, and China and amounts of subsidy of copper pipe fittings from China, in accordance with the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA).
At the initiation of the re-investigation, the CBSA sent dumping and subsidy requests for information (RFI) to all known importers, exporters, producers and vendors to solicit information on the costs and selling prices of subject goods and like goods. The information was requested for purposes of updating the normal values, export prices, and amounts of subsidy for subject goods imported into Canada.
Exporters which submitted a complete response to the RFI’s and for whom the verification was considered reliable, were issued normal values for future shipments. As such, imports of subject goods, exported to Canada by co-operative exporters will not be subject to anti-dumping duties if the goods are sold to Canada at or above the normal value issued by CBSA.
Full details regarding the CBSA’s re-investigation conclusion, and a list of co-operative exporters can be found here.
CBSA initiates normal value review of a Corrosion-resistant steel sheet exporter from Vietnam and Türkiye
Normal value reviews are conducted by CBSA to update normal values, export prices or amounts of subsidy of single exporters as necessary, to ensure that these values accurately reflect current market conditions.
On Sept. 11, 2023, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has initiated a normal value review (review) to establish the normal values and export prices applicable to certain corrosion-resistant steel sheet (COR) originating in or exported from Vietnam by Delaware Steel Company, Div. of Consolidated Fabricators Corp. (Delaware).
Should the exporter decide to participate in this review, it is required to provide complete and accurate response to the CBSA’s Request for Information (RFI) by October 18, 2023, by 5 p.m. ET. The exporter will be considered cooperative if the requested information is complete, submitted on time and the exporter permits verification of the data.
Full details regarding this normal value review can be found here.
