A​​​​​​​s relayed by the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA), the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) seeks feedback on draft directive D-25-02: Wood Products Export Program, which outlines Canada’s phytosanitary framework for exporting wood products. This directive sets out Canada’s phytosanitary program for exporting wood products, with the current scope limited to sawn wood. Also, it explains the registration process exporters must follow and the minimum phytosanitary requirements for shipments to selected trading partners.

Export Requirements Under D-25-02

Exporters may need to meet one or a combination of different phytosanitary measures outlined in the directive to satisfy the requirements of importing countries. These requirements apply to exports of sawn wood and align with the minimum phytosanitary standards established under the program. Other phytosanitary requirements may be addressed under separate CFIA programs depending on the nature of the export and destination market conditions.

Exporters and stakeholders can request the draft directive by contacting plantexports-exportationsdevegetaux@inspection.gc.ca. Comments will be accepted until August 17, 2026.

Once finalized, directive D-25-02 will be published on the CFIA’s website.
