CIFER Registration Renewal Window Opens July 1, 2025 for Exporters

Action Required for Canadian Food Exporters

A

reminder to all manufacturers, processors, and storage facilities whose food products are exported to China and are registered in the China Import Food Enterprise Registration (CIFER) system, administered by the General Administration of Customs China (GACC).

Expiring

A large number of CIFER registrations are set to expire on January 1, 2026, particularly for facilities involved in the following product categories:

  • Edible oil and oilseeds

  • Plant spices

  • Grain milling industrial products and malt

  • Grain products and other related products

To maintain your eligibility to export these products to China, you must login to your CIFER account and submit an Application for Extension. This is a mandatory requirement by GACC in order to continue exporting beyond the expiry date.

Key Dates

  • Renewal window: July 1 to September 30, 2025

  • Registration expiry: January 1, 2026

Failure to submit your extension application within this 3- to 6-month window prior to expiry will result in cancellation of your existing registration. If your registration is cancelled, you will be required to submit a new application, and exporting to China will not be permitted until GACC approves the new registration—a process that can be unpredictable and time-consuming.

Next Steps

  1. Log into your CIFER account starting July 1, 2025.

  2. Check your registration expiry date.

  3. Submit an Application for Extension if your registration expires January 1, 2026.

  4. Complete the process by September 30, 2025.

Additional Resources:

Maintaining an active registration in CIFER is essential for uninterrupted market access to China. Be proactive—renew your registration before the September 30 deadline.
