Global Affairs Issues 2021-2022 TRQs for Wheat, Barley, and Their Products

Trade Update • JULY 27, 2021

Global Affairs Canada recently advised that the 2021-2022 tariff rate quotas (TRQs) for wheat, barley, wheat products, and barley products will become accessible on August 1, 2021.

This pertains to regulated imports of wheat, barley, and their products covered by Items 161 to 191 of the Import Control List.

The following annual TRQ levels will apply from August 1, 2021 to July 31, 2022:

  • Wheat – 226,883 tonnes;
  • Barley – 399,000 tonnes;
  • Wheat Products – 123,557 tonnes (grain equivalent); and
  • Barley Products – 19,131 tonnes (grain equivalent).

These figures have not changed from the 2020-2021 TRQs.

Note: TRQs are administered on a first-come, first-served basis.
