“Let me start with saying that the CARM Open Mic webinar was really helpful.  I know it wasn’t the exact content that you intended (thank you CBSA…lol), it was still very impactful.  Great job!”

CARM: Canada’s First Step to Customs Enforcement

Canada’s new CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) initiative is transforming importing by making customs compliance a central business risk, and opportunity, driver. This briefing explains how widespread misclassification and underpaid duties led the Canada Border Services Agency to adopt a data‑driven model that scores every importer on compliance, payment behaviour, and responsiveness, with higher penalties and tighter enforcement as a result. It also shows how a strategic partnership with a professional customs broker can turn CARM from a burden into a competitive edge through stronger controls, fewer surprises, and better trade decisions.
