o support Canadian exporters impacted by the tariffs imposed by the United States, Global Affairs Canada has launched a suite of new tools through the Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) to help businesses navigate and benefit from tariff-free treatment under the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).

The new resources aim to ensure businesses remain CUSMA-compliant and make full use of available tariff exemptions, particularly after the March 2025 U.S. tariffs—which include a 25% tariff on general goods and 10% on energy products—came into effect. Since March 7, 2025, qualifying CUSMA-compliant goods are exempt.

Canadian SMEs can now access one-on-one support via a dedicated phone line at 1-833-760-1167 (available Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. ET) for guidance on:

  • CUSMA rules of origin
  • Certification of origin
  • U.S. customs procedures
